My dear neighbor Rita had her 90th(!) birthday party and I wanted to make something special for her. She is such a sweetheart, a real life doll.

A while back I had bought a vintage half doll from the 1920's. That's the kind of thing that is right up her alley. So I made Rita a pincushion with the half doll in her favorite colors of blue and white: embellished with blue organza ribbon work roses and silver dangles from vintage stampings.

I gave it to her with a birthday card that said "A Vintage Doll from the 1920's for A Vintage Doll from the 1920's." :P
She was so thrilled. I thought she would keep it in in her back bedroom, but it was front and center on her side table when we stopped over to "chin wag", as Rita calls it. And the funniest thing happened then too. Rita brought out and showed me a very tiny half doll that she said she was going to redo as the baby to go along with the bigger one. Made my day!

I love it. I love those old figurings but did not think about redoing them. That was beautiful gift.

Aaack Sherry, it isn't letting me add pictures. Finally I got two to stick, but am adding the close up here. I hope! :hunf:
