This is a quilt from a lady that had gotten these cross stitched blocks were old, she wanted to use them and make an heirloom. I used 5 different patterns in quilting this quilt, wanting to mimic the center of the cross stitched block in the pieced blocks.

The details in the borders

I treated the Yellow and blue borders as one to save some $ for her.

Doing this rail fence type border works out nicely on this quilt.

The center of this block is what I repeated in the other blocks.

wow, you quilted right over the embroidery??? i never would have thought to do that. i have an embroidered block quilt that has been patiently waiting for 2 years for me to finally quilt it...i just could not decide how to go about it...now , you give me an idea or 2...thanks
kind of uncertain about quilting right over the embroidery yet...but it seems like it turned out ok when you did it....now to see how the customer feels about it...i hope she love s it!

I have quilted many this way. I used to free hand around them echoing the pattern, since then I see a part of the block and quilt that pattern in the entire block. Trying to copy what I believe the block is saying. Does that make sense?
