Probably also because it was so nice and big...people probably thought--you were brave and yet what a good idea--sand does come out nicely in the wash, anyway.

What was nice is tha the sand does not cling to it. I just threw it in the washer and dyer and looks great...the backing is white and it looks fine...My husband now says that is the beach blanket....I most likely would not put it on the grass outdoors since it is white and I do not want grass stains. Hmmm....I will have to make a scrappy for the backyard.

You did what? You took that beautiful quilt to the beach? Actually, if it felt right to you, and if that is what you made it for, good for you that you made a bright spot on the beach where you could relax and enjoy your lemonade.
