Thank you, yes crayons are used. I'm doing it as I go along instead of coloring all at once, this is easier for me.

You are doing a great job! It looks beautiful!
However I'm wondering if the very light density of your crayon will hold up to washing for years to come. I'd hate for it to disappear over time.

When I did the crayon coloring on the state flowers quilt from the 30s that I helped finish in the 60s, we did the coloring very intensely and then ironed it between two sheets of waxed paper to set the color. The color stayed nice and actually helped preserve the parts of the blocks that were colored. By the 90s the muslin of the blocks had begun to significantly deteriorate, so I had put it on a quilt rack for display. Unfortunately it did not survive our house burning in 2000. Am hoping to recreate it eventually.

I'm so sorry to hear that. Tes the crayons will hold up, there set as well with an iron, this will be more display than used, but if it does fade it can alwasy be recolored. I'm using Kona cotton for this one. Thanks so much.
