My husband is kind of a video game nerd and he wanted a quilt of his own (that me and the dog couldn't steal). I decided to make him something with a Mario Bros. theme. I know that patterns exist for these sort of video game quilts, but I am terrible with patterns and figured I could just make something up myself.

So I counted pixels and threw together a couple of giant blocks with Mario and the 1-up Mushroom. Now I just have to figure out what to do with the rest of the quilt...

The paths that they run around on?

Neat that you figured out how to do that.

I've been practicing making some simple blocks using the tutorials/instructions on Quilter's Cache:

Here's a "Wild West" quilt top that I adapted from a tutorial I saw in a magazine (that I've since given to my mom - and of course I cannot remember which magazine it was at the moment). It's ready to be quilted.

Here's the my first ever attempt at quilting. It's really sad - lol. Lots of mistakes and I'm not going to even show you the back which shows the "quilting" (if you can call it that). It's made from vintage linens, so maybe that's why it turned out so bad...yeah - that's what I'm going with! ;)

I was thinking about that at first, but then after I made the mushroom, I realized it was way too big so it wasn't in the correct proportion. Maybe I'll just make up a couple more characters and make it four panels with the "bricks" from the game as sashing and borders. I do know I'm taking a little break on that one though!
