Oh my gosh! Lookie lookie everyone, two quilts, first one is Marcia's, second one is Cathy M's, both the same pattern, only Cathy's has horizontal and vertical sashings, and Marcia's has the appearance of diagonal sashings, i find it so absolutely AWESOME about quilting, is you can have the same pattern, and two people make two different quilts, that are so absolutely opposite, and yet both so absolutely striking! I bet it will take you guys awhile staring at the two quilts, to see that they are the same pattern, sure took me a few mins, and when i realized they were the same pattern, i just could not even believe it!Absolutely stunning both of you! :)

Here is Marcia's:

Barb, I had been looking a this pattern just the other day on quiltville I think or a site like that I think it was called typing paper quilt, as you square off a sheet of copy paper, then use strips/scraps of fabric, alternating light and dark and use a coordinating strip for the centre strip, really easy and very effective, I have added it to my 'to do' list!! :D

Barb, I do think that the two quilts are very similar, but not the exact same pattern. Mine is SOOOO easy to make. I am attaching a close up picture of 4 blocks and you can see for yourself. For each block I cut a piece of muslin 12 1/2" square. I centered the red 2 1/2" strip of fabric diagonally on the muslin. I then began to sew and flip various widths strips on each side always starting with black as a my dominant color and ending with white as the dominant color. That is what gives the white diamond effect in the center of 4 blocks. Does any of this make sense??

Yes, absolutely, that's how you get the appearance of a diagonal sashing. I believe Cathy's is the same, only she didn't centre any centre stripes. This i'll try your way and do it on foundation fabric, rather than having to get a co-worker to tear all my paper off for me like Cathy does lol lol lol I find it amazing that two quilts so similar can look so absolutely different and very striking. :) Oh, i think this is the pattern on quiltville, oh i might have to try this too lol
