Default Kennel quilts for cat rescue

Last week I mentioned making little quilts (12x18) to go inside kennels for cats being rescued during wild fires, tornados, floods etc. Here are photos of 14 that I made this week....would have been more, but had some time away from home for appointments. These will be shipped off to California to the Small Animal Disaster Shelter. A special thank you to SueZQ from MN for giving me the blue cat fabric last year, I got 6 of the mats from that yardage! Made two of each different fabric I had with cats on it. Will be making more using scrap blocks that I have.

That's so nice of you. Beautiful little mats. I'm sure they will help some kitties who are scared and upset by losing their home and environment.

Too cute, Kola the cat loved hers. I found that if I put her mat in her bed a few days before her vet appointment she was calmer during the ride. Kola was a very special cat, disliked any change in her surrounding, loved peace and quiet under the lamp on my desk. We miss her dearly.

This is such a worthy cause. Your kennel quilts are sweet and heartwarming. Nice work!

I purchase cuddle quilts at the thrift store. Then cut into 12x18 rectangles. Don’t even need to hem. Cuddle fabric does not ravel. I make 3 dozen every month for my shelter kitties.

MarshaKay....the website that I'm following specificially ask us not to use cuddle quilts, nothing crochet, no buttons or decorations. They are asking for cotton fabric that is washable with dacron batting. If quilted please use very small stitches so little claws don't get caught. I guess every website is different.
