Default Winter Peace - a Scrap Quilt

Made during multiple blizzards (nearly nine feet of snow in five weeks) and bitterly cold nights, I think this quilt has a restful look.

The star blocks were originally intended to be a border on another scrappy quilt containing Jacob's Ladder blocks. After making all my blocks and laying them out, I decided that the two block types weren't as complimentary as I would have liked. There was just too much going on and it was distracting! I changed my plans and made a quilt out of just the star blocks (this one), and will make a quilt just with the Jacob's Ladder blocks later.

Lots of "misfit" fabrics here: stripes, checks, plaids, old calicoes, etc.

You did a great job with an old traditional pattern especially using up your scraps.

i agree, this is a softly restful collection of color and design. i particularly love the way you used your miasma of "misfit" fabrics -the mix of checks, plaids, cw etc all give the look of very old & very beautiful vintage quilt. i also love love your quilting motif. elegant, simple, so fitting for this delicate & lovely quilt!
