I think something like a sunflower all over design would work well with the fabrics

shadow quilting would make the blocks stand out. Perhaps shadow in the white blocks and STID on the darks

An allover pattern would look great on the quilt. It wouldn't take away from the quilt, and there are several masculine patterns to choose from.
