For Christmas, usually number notecards from 1-25, fold them in half and write a note on the inside. Then I tape them to the pantry door. Each day of December, my sons pull down the corresponding number and read the note. Some notes include: stay up 30 minutes later, make christmas cookies, play Monopoly, etc. This year, I decided to quilt an advent calendar. There are 25 v shaped pockets and each contain a sliver of paper that I will write on. It is a great way to count down to the holidays. The picture isn't great as it is hard to see the pockets but here it is... also, the binding is a bit wobbly on the bottom. I just can't attach a binding using a walking foot. It just doesn't come out as nice!

Cute fabric! It gives me an idea for my DGDs. Last year I sent a calendar with candy behind each door and they ate it all the first day! Notes would be much better.

Great Christmas fun. The kids will remember this tradition and talk about it when they are grown with children of their own. I live in NJ, too. Near Trenton.
