Hello. Has anyone used a rotary cutter blade sharpener? Is it worth the high price asked for here in Canada?

I have never heard o one...I just buy new blades????
|
I bought one a few years ago & I don't think it works as well as it was supposed to.
I've recently exchanged blades, which is much cheaper than just buying new. If you're interested here's a link to the company: http://www.lpsharp.com/ |
I have this one. It works well if you sharpen before the blade is dull. You have to just make it a habit for it to be a worthwhile puchase.

i have had one for about 7 years...i have used it about 3 times...it is DANGEROUS and SCARY and i would rather just go buy new blades than mess with it...i hate handling blades and with that thing you have to really handle them alot i do not like it. i don't know if newer ones are less scary or not, i just go buy blades when i need them and i ask for them at christmas, my hubby always gets about 6 for my stocking

Harbor Freight online... 2 blades in package for $2 or so.
Not worth the danger of sharpening |
The one a purchased about 9 years ago cost me around $5. I have not bought a single blade since then. I sharpen my blade regularly the way my father taught me to sharpen knifes. That is to ALWAYS turn the sharpener clockwise never counterclockwise. It has saved me a lot of money on blades.

Maybe I'm doing it wrong, but I've not had good luck with mine. I have been saving my dull blades to swap out and I am going to try Harbor Freight, but I bought a ton of blades at half off and on e-bay, so it'll be a while before I run out.

It works for sharpening to get a little longer out of the blade but if you have nicks forget it. I just try and stock up when they are on sale.

If I got one this is the one I would get. The circular ones are not worth it IMHO....
