I thought I was so organized. I am having a new DGS in March and I picked the pattern months ago. Actually it was a pattern my picky DDIL had liked and I remembered her picking it even though she doesn't know I am making it. Thought it would make her happy. Anyway the pattern was in pink, brown, and, cream.
I chose blue, brown, and cream, Lily and Will from bunny hill by Moda. Of course I ordered these fabrics online and can't just go get more but they are probably still available.

There will be 9 blocks, and the blocks are to be sewn together without sashing, I am planning the brown for inner boarder. and the toile for the outer boarder. I have 2 creams, and the blue dot, to use in the blocks but they look so dull. I think I need more blue or something. Which do you like better or how can I arrange the colors so they look better. I really want this to turn out nice.

I thank you for any ideas and opinions.

That dark brown will help bring out th eblocks I think. I like it.

The blue with brown dot (in the corner pieces) has more depth to it than any of the other fabrics you used to surround the brown star.

Try that bolder dot in the trapizoid, and the center triangles around the brown star, then the two lighter colors in the outer 3 triangles and the corner pieces.

I like the second one the best.

I have to concentrate a long time picking just the right fabrics for a piece. I like having at least 4 fabrics in a quilt. I try to pick a "light" and a "medium" and a "dark." After just getting back to quilting after many years, I've forgotten most of what I thought I knew! Anyway, my point is, maybe you think it's not exactly what you want because it has 3 lights and 1 dark. That has a tendency for all lights to recede to the back visually, and the dark pieces pop out. I really like your pattern and the fabrics. Don't give up on this, because the fabrics are beautiful and you'll find a solution to make you feel comfortable.

I agree...you may want to think about adding a fabric to really make it pop...there are a light of very light fabrics on this pattern.

I like the lay out of the first block, more contrast. I feel your pain with a picky DDIL.

I would alternate block one and two..

I really like the first block. I think I would make a couple of those and then look at them together with a doorhole. That would give you some idea how the quilt will look when together.
