I have a Janome 1600P DBX machine on a Bernina quilt frame.
I'd like to try using groovy boards and/or pantos but was told that the groovy boards are made for specific frames. Can anyone give me ANY advice on groovy boards, styluses, pantos, and lasers that might be work w/my set up?

i have groovy boards, pattern perfect, and designer made boards and all of them work on my grace frame with my grace stylus.

i have never had a problem with these items fitting - i haven't done a full inspection of the bernina quilt frame but i'm sure bernina built it with the idea that quilters will use boards and/or pantos.

Thanks for the info - and good point - that Bernina would build a frame user friendly to groovy boards.

i've borrowed them because i don't have any, but i intend to. it's my understanding that they're generic. just make sure that you don't get one that's bigger than your work area. if you can only make a 12" block, for instance, be careful not to get a board for a 15" space. also, the rule of thumb is to get 2, so you can move one ahead of your work at all times. i want baptist fan for mother's day and birthday. one each.

I know that you can use them. The Hancock Fabrics in my area has a bernina dealer with a demo frame set up. Its set up to use the laser and groovy boards. If you contact Bernina, I'll bet they can lead you in the right direction. I think you can use any laser. It is mounted on the table that holds the machine on my Tin Lizzie. I haven't tried it yet, but I'm sure it doesn't have to special for your frame.

yes, i used it with my tin lizzie and the correct stylus.

there are lots of places to buy the boards, but i'll get mine at

http://www.baysidequilting.com/

look for 'shop online' on the top tabs, then 'sew boards' on the left side.

i get lots of my notions there on sale.

The stylus is specific to each frame. The groovy boards themselves are generic and can be used on any frame. Just be sure to get the correct stylus for your frame and you'll be all set.

I just wanted to say thanks for this info. I didn't know that they made different ones besides the handiquilter boards. After doing a google search I found some that fit my mid arm and are much cheaper.
