I was innocently sewing along when I noticed a funny-looking screw, which I knew meant SOMETHING, but everything looked all right, so finished sewing that length. I found out what the problem was when I tried to lift the presser foot. Down came the bar.

Does anyone know how to put it back on? For the life of me, I'm plain puzzled!

This is a perfect time to grab your manual. :)
It is not complicated to put it back on but it could be a bit different than my machine. Do you have your manual? Tell us your make and model, please.
Oh, sorry that happened. I am glad it didn't happen when you were stitching. It could have done major damage to your machine.

Some of those screws can be a pain to screw back in!

Check out their website and also google Bernina Sport 802 repair. You might also find helpful information on You Tube. There is one tutorial in parts that takes you step by step how to take your machine apart, checking and cleaning and then putting it back together again. Another place to check might be on Yahoo Groups in the service repair subject along with groups for Bernina owners.

You may be able to take the end cap of your machine off and then be able to see where the lever is attached then replace the screw. Be careful to align the screw so as to not strip the hole. This is done by starting the screw with your fingers if possible.

Well all, I searched but was unable to find anything, so I took it in yesterday and they think it'll cost about $40, and I have a $25 off repair so, at least it won't be SO expensive.
