Has anyone else here purchased the book International Sunbonnet Sue but Debra Kimball, M.D.? Is anyone planning on entering the AQS competition on Sun Bonnet Sue? I have the book and love the ideas she has. I have thought about how I want to make some special Sun Bonnet Sues of my own design. I would love to enter the competion, but I don't have enough time to complete a project by entry date.

I have the book "Sunbonnet Sue, All Through the Year" by Sue Linker (Leisure Arts) and am dying to start it. It gives different patterns for her with different activities for each month of the year, plus different border treatments-you can mix and match and truly make it your own. I didn't know about the competition-do you have the details?

Angel, I just rec'd this book from a friend on my eBay group. We played a bingo game. I won and she sent me the book as my prize. She knows I love sunbonnet sues..I haven't had time to sit and look at all the patterns in it yet. But from what I have seen it looks fantastic..I can't wait to get started making some of them...I need a clone of myself!! *LOL* EWWW that's a scary thought...2 of me??

I didn't know about it but, thanks to you, I have a copy on order. They are fun and easy to make and very cute.

Here is the link for the contest information:

http://www,americanquilter.com/documents/shows_contests/desmoines/2011_sunbonnet_sue_contest.pdf

The author of the book is a radiologist here in the Des Moines area. I have met her and I have seen that quilt in person. It is really nice. I was at her booksigning at a quilt store a few weeks ago and she told me that she is going to be one of the judges. She was rather flabbergasted to be asked to be a judge! She hasn't ever been a judge before, except of x-ray films and the students she oversees at the osteopathic medical university here in the city. I have so many ideas of what I would like to do, but with working full time, and seeing medical specialists as often as I do, I don't have time to prepare any one of my ideas well enough to enter it.:-(

PS In order to enter the contest, you do NOT have to use that book. You can base your entry on any Sunbonnet Sue idea. You are also not required to be a member of AQS to enter the contest either. :D

Thanks Angel-but it won't connect to that link. Maybe I can try a google search.

Type www.americanquilter.com in your browser. That will take you directly to the AQS site. From there find the "shows" link on the red bar across the top. From the dropdown menu, choose 2011 shows and contests. From the menu that pops out from the side, choose Des Moines 2011. That will take you to a new page. From the grey menu on that page, choose contests. That should get you to the correct page.

OOPS! You have to make one more choice on that last page, but that choice will be pretty obvious!

Thanks-got it!! I don't know if I'll have time to do it-it means pushing my other few projects back-yet again!! But I REALLY want to make her!
