My hubby is building me a sewing room in our garage. Being new to sewing and quilting, I'm not really sure what would be considerd as "must haves" for a newbie. So, my question or questions are: What are the top 10 must haves if you were starting all over again in your sewing experience? I already have a sewing machine, table and a few storage containers. What storage solutions/sewing notions can you NOT live without? Thank you for any and all comments.

My pegboard wall is a must. Hit the hardware store for the multipack pegboard hooks. A lazy boy chair and TV also help for those handsewing moments. A bed for my dog. I turned an old dresser into my ironing board and then store fat quarters and secret pal swap items in the drawers. Lighting is also critical. Have fun with your new space!!!

An ironing station and cutting station are must haves! Have fun designing and building. :-)

Welcome to the board from Southern California!

A cutting table at a great height for you!!!
If you can sink your machine into a desk or table and have a way to extend said desk or table when doing the quilting stitches is very very helpful on your back and shoulders.
Good cutting mat, I like the 24 x 36 size.
Definitely something to store your fabrics in. Best is out of sunlight but I love to just look at my fabrics. I have mine in cabinets that I can just open the doors and step back and see it all!
Good lighting. An Ott light Floor lamp is good to use in various places. I have one over my machine and one at my cutting table.
A nice chair with rollers and no arms. I can roll from my machine to my ironing board, which I frequently set low as to iron from my chair and then over here to the computer or the cutting table. Helps if you have a hard type floor.

I have a tv in my sewing room to keep me company. I keeps old movies I enjoy listening too. Since I know the stories I don't need to watch constantly. Also have my computer there. Storage is big! Have fun with this!

Shelves and lots of them (preferably behind doors) for books, magazines, and for fabric that is folded on the acid free plastic holders. Peg board for accessories, a "big board" for ironing, tv, computer, cutting table with big mat. These are what I hope for in my future room. :D
