Has anyone else had the problem of a yard really isnt a yard anymore? It seems the employees have been taught to be very specific when cutting fabric and not "over"cut a yard of fabric!! Alot of time I will buy what I think is three yards and it ends up being 2 yards 34-35 inches!! I guess its not a really big deal but over time this adds up!! Also if I try using it for backing I come up short just that little bit!!! Frustrating to me. Wondered if anyone else has that problem. Thanks cheryl :D

Thats when you ask them after they cut it to measure again...

I always watch when its being cut some have a tendency to shorten the cuts

I usually buy alot at a time - I must time it wrong too!! Always seems to be a line forming behind me...when you ask them to remeasure do you get alot of flack.

I try to always watch as the clerk is measuring. I watch to see if the starting edge a straight cut. If not then I ask them to either straighten the edge before they start to measure or compensate for it.

If the material is for a special project then I try to always add 1/4 yard to my purchase.

I pay close attention now to the clerks measuring, because of folks on here in the past getting shorted. :)

As one who works in the fabric dept.... I always but a long yard for my customers. I like it when I get the same. I won't let certain people cut my fabric because they short cut it.

There was a post on here about long cuts from a company-
Which company was that? I will have to do a search.

I have had that happen and I tell them if it is short I AM coming back and you will cut it right ,I believe you have to be outspoken to make sure you get what you pay for

Be extra watchful when clerk is cutting wide back fabric. I have noticed that often I lose 5-6" on both ends when the fabric is straightened.
