I was fortunate to travel to Honduras about 6 years ago and had the brilliant idea to make a wall hanging. I got my inspiration from a postcard and began collecting just the right fabrics for all the little pieces. Flash forward 6 years . . . we had Marcia Stein (marciastein.com) show us her photo quilt wall hangings last month at our quilt guild meeting and it lit a fire under me! After attending her workshop and getting some tips, I finally started putting my project together. I will probably never again do anything so detailed - every little shape is a piece fused down and most of them are top stitched. My favorite part of the process was using my free motion foot - I LOVED making the road look like cobble stones. Then I had to do the clouds, the trees, the houses, you get the picture!

Just beautiful. Now you have a lovely keepsake from your trip. The first one is always the hardest so you should try another one.
