What thread do you use for hand and or macine applique ?

I use silk thread for hand applique. I'm just learning this technique. I haven't done machine applique recently.

i use silk thread for hand applique. i use what ever thread is the right color/weight for my project for machine applique. usually a 40wt-60wt thread- usually a thread from connecting threads.

I do machine applique & use YLI Wonder invisible or Sulky if I want color.

I use embroidery floss, can match any color, 1 strand, washes and is easy to have a large supply of colors available.

They have come out with new variagated floss that works really nicely.

I use metler 60 and aurifil. They both disappear into the background...in my sewing kit I use bobbins from pieceocake.com. They are 10 for $10 and you can get any color you need. Good way to stock up on colors

I use either silk or So Fine.

For hand applique I use emb. floss.

So far I have only done hand applique, and I use Mettler 60/2,or Superior Masterpiece, I have it in the "Frosted donut", a bobbin holder, containing 36 different colors of thread, also 60/2. In the past I also used embroidery thread, but I worried about how strong it was.
