I made one for my niece last year - I didn't have a lot of time, so I just used squares in her team colors. The backing of this one is white, as she wanted to be able to have her friends sign it. I quilted stars in the border so they could sign in the stars.

I made this for one of my GS a few years ago. Hope it helps. I cut out some of the soccer balls and appliqued them on the border and quilted some red lines.

Sorry I do not have a photo of my project but needed a soccor ball for it . Used hex shapes from a Grandmothers Garden quilt and pieced 1 black surounded by white and repeated until it was large enough to cut out the ball, does this make sence to you? it worked for me.
