I kept driving past this beautiful old barn thinking it would make a great photo quilt. Finally one day, when I was in a rush, my guardian angel made me stop. I started to photograph it and kept seeing this old fence post out of the corner of my eye. So I stooped down and got the fence post and the barbed wire in the photo.

When I drove past the next week, the barn was being torn down.

The quilt photo is composed of four sheet of fabric that had portions of the photo printed on them.

A first copy of this quilt was auctioned to raise money for a new cancer center in the local Richland Center Hospital. I was told it raised $375.

Butterflies and birds were included in the border

Monofiliment thread was used to quilt the photo except for the barbed wire. I used two shades of grey for that. If you look at the post you will see a line across it. That is the seam of the parts of the photo being sewn together

This is just amazing!! I have done a couple of photo wall hangings but I did not quilt them other than in the ditch to hold them together. This is just beautiful! One day I aspire to make one as beautiful as yours!!!

Wow to that lovely quilt and wow to the story behind it. Thank goodness you photographed it when you did!

I love it! God is good ALL the time. If you hadn't been inspired (by Him) to stop that day, you would be wishing that you had photographed the barn before they tore it down. Now, instead, you have made a beautiful quilt to remember it by. You were able to help others also. Great job.
