Importing your fabric into EQ7 is a little different than doing it in EQ5, mostly because you have more options. One of the things that EQ7 does better, is that after you scan your fabrics into the program, EQ7 will size your fabric proportionally into your projects. So, if it looks small when you scan it, it could enlarge the pattern when you design with it.
l. Scan your fabric and save it in a folder in 'Documents' or 'Pictures'. You don't need to cut it to fit your scanner; just lay the fabric down. If your scanner has a resolution choice, set it at either 72 or 75 dpi. 4. Go to a Style. If you don't have a name for this file, right click on a Style Number. Click: Modify Style. A box will pop up for you to write a name for the Style Name you would like to use. You could give them color names, or whatever you wish. [ATTACH=CONFIG]189879[/ATTACH] 2. Open EQ7. 3. Go to Library, then Fabric Library Go to: My Library. [ATTACH=CONFIG]189909[/ATTACH] 5. On Worktable, click 'Work on Image'. [ATTACH=CONFIG]189912[/ATTACH] Under Image, click on 'Import Image'. Click on your link to your fabric that you have saved in your fabric, to select it. [ATTACH=CONFIG]189913[/ATTACH] 6. Click: Add to Sketchbook'. 7. Click on the 'Crop' button and select just one repeat of your fabric. [ATTACH=CONFIG]189915[/ATTACH] Cropping involves pulling down on a little handle. You can try it several times to get the selections you want. Then, click on the green 'check' button to finish it. The button is shown here on the right side, above the empty, white space. 11. Go to: Libraries; then, click: Fabric Library. Click: Sketchbook. Your fabric will show up there. Click: Cut.
12. Go to:My Library in the same window. Click on the Style Name of your choice. Click: Paste. 14. A box will say: 'You have changed your library style...'. Click: Yes (if you want to save it). Click: OK. [ATTACH=CONFIG]189933[/ATTACH] |
15. To use your fabric for a quilt or block design: Go to the Fabric Library; My Library; and the Style. Click on your fabric to select it. Click: Add to Sketchbook. Click: Close.
Your fabri will be in your sketchbook, along with the default fabrics and any other fabrics that you have added from the Library. Have fun! |

Nice tutorial. I've just copied it to MS Word and saved it. I just bought the program last night and can't wait to get it. I've designed several in my sketch book and can't wait to put them in this program and make it look even better.

Thanks for this...its timely! I just bought 2 different fabric options for a current project and need to scan them both in so I can see what I'm really doing!
