I do need help! I am in the process of writing an e-book (or book), sort of like a quilt encyclopedia and I need your input. I would like for you to ask me some questions that you have about quilting or fabric, or construction, about quilting styles and so on. I will try to answer your questions, and if I don't know, someone can help me out from the board. If we don't know the answer, I WILL find it for you. I'd like to hear from everyone that would like to help-beginner, a more seasoned quilter, someone thinking about quilting.

And here's the fun part: I may include your question in my book. If you want, I can use a first name and last initial or your boardname or no name.

Kind of like a "Dear Abby" for quilters.

Just so you know, I don't pretend to know it all! But, I know how to find things!!!!!

Thank you so much, Judy

Question: What is the best way to prevent puckers in the back fabric when you sandwhich a quilt?

What is the procedure to start quilting? If read all the tutorials but its still sooo scary!

Ive seen this question a lot: How do u finish the ends of the binding.
Is this what u want??

I actually just posted this in the Main Message Board. How do you decide what information to include on a quilt label? Newbies like me sometimes don't realize that you should include a label on every quilt you make.

Quilting has its own language. I would like to know all the abrevations.. like OBW, and fat quater, etc. It would be nice to be able to have a place to go just for terms.

Yes, these are the kind of questions I like. Thank you for posting them. This afternoon, I will begin writing back to you. Thanks, Judy

What is the best way to cut a 96" border strip?!?!?

What kind of patterns are the best for beginners to learn with? The Lonestar is very pretty - is that a good newbie pattern?

Why is the seam allowance only 1/4" for quilts but 5/8" for garments? And why are the seams pressed to one side as opposed to opened like they are for garments?

How big do I make a quilt for a Twin, Queen or King size bed?

How many squares (2inch, 3inch, ect) will I get out of a fat quater?

A tutural for binding (I only know how to do a pillow case binding)

guide for hand quilting.(just trying my luck with this one now)

Yes, I have a question. Exactly where are all my seam rippers hiding? I promise I have at least 5 and I'm lucky to be able to find one when I need it. There's a seam ripper party going on somewhere in my studio that I was not invited to. :-)

I'll tell you how NOT to do it. The last (only) time I did it I layed it out on my husbands shop floor and used a 12' long aluminum strip as a guide with heavy pieces of steel placed strategically along the strip to hold it down. Then I scooted along the floor and cut the fabric. Did one helluva number on that rotary cutting blade against the concrete floor let me tell you!!
