Why must my machine thwart my every move?
You're going along fine and them blamo. It's like the needle is shredding the thread? Is this a tension problem? bobbin, presser foot or thread tension? lower, higher? gahh. I'm covered in thread. And it's glow in the dark so it looks like I've been butchering glow worms. I'm almost finished with this darn thing and my machine keeps tripping up. Anyone have any clue? Pictures attached. |
No real answers for you ...
Though my first line of attack when I have problems is to take bobbin and spool off/out and start fresh at threading. Sometimes it's as simple as that! By chance did you just switch to a different spool of thread? |
Since you said the needle is shredding the thread, have you tried a new needle? (Glow in the dark workms-that's great-lol)

Try with the largest needle you have and if the thread doesn't break, reduce the size of the needle a little at a time until you find the smallest needle that works well with your thread. If it still breaks, the thread is the problem. Sometimes our thread is too old and we don't know it, poor quality, or a bad batch. It happens.

i sometimes have problems close to the end of a spool of thread also. I dont know if it gets stretched more at the beginning of the spool or what
|
yep, I have this problem when it is time for a new needle. If that don't not help sometimes a bigger size needle will do it.
Good Luck |
duh!
Where was my brain ... suggested re-doing the thread and didn't even think of the new needl! *blush* |
We've all seen that nightmare on our machines! Maddening, too. Hope you get it figured out-I would agree with the advice already given.
