I have found a Designer I for $1200. at a LQS.
I was looking to purchase a stand alone embroidery machine, but after some research and speaking to "the clerk"(not the owner) at the store I think this is a better way for me to go. More options with this machine than my Viking Iris (which I plan to keep, my DD or DGD will use it if I don"t).
Any thoughts or comments are welcome.
Just want some feedback.

Good luck, but I think its over priced.

I LOVE MINE!!! Sorry to be shouting, but I'm a real fan of Vikings. It will sew thu anything. you can hem jeans, no problem. the only thing I would be careful of is if it is the the USB (so you can use a flash drive) or the floppy version. Most PC's don't have floppy drives anymore, so it's a bit of a hassle.
ETA: The price is about the same as what my dealer is selling the USB version for and you should be getting a warranty with it.

This is the only viking dealer around me.
The machine has a disc not USB.
I have an older computer that we use the disc in still.
What do you think the price should be?

Check ebay for comparable prices.

Personally, I LOVE both of my Designer I,s. Mine are both floppy disc, but not a problem. You can get an external floppy drive for the computer and blank discs are still available . I get them at either Staples or Office Max. The price is about right for that machine.

I love my Designer 1 - it also has a floppy not the usb. The pricing might be a little high. Have you tried negotiating a lower price. Good luck - I don't think you would go wrong with it.

Love my Designer I but don't use it for embroidery.

Yeah, I couldn't beleive it when she told me all that the machine would do esp. compared to my basic machine. sewing the heavier fabrics is a huge plus for me.
The sensor foot and the built in emb. designs would be enough. I was also suprised when she told me how big of a hoop you can use.
He already brought the price down by 300 and I did find the external drive on ebay. I didn't know they made such a thing. Although, why not.
