Hi Everyone,
Just wondering what you sit on when at your sewing machine. My current chair is giving me some back ache (far to young for that :x ) and I am looking to go out and get a new one, but not too sure what sort I am going to look for. Would love to know what other have used. Thanks Kirsty |
Howdies Kirsty...
Love your kitty on a leash, mine act like they are drunk and the leash weighs a thousand pounds. Cring of cringes.... I sit on various chairs depending on where I lug my machine to. I do have a sewing desk but don't like to be alone if my DH is home. It has a regular office chair in it that can be adjusted. Other times I sit on a straight back kitchen chair. When my rear gets tired, I add a bed pillow to it (also gives me a different position for my arms/shoulders to be in). I've heard you are suppose to adjust your chair height every so often to give your body a change of position and it helps to keep from having aches and pains. Don't forget to relax your shoulders while you sew and keep good posture if possible. Welcome to the board too. |
I'm using one of my dining room chairs. I don't like it, and it doesn't like me. I also don't like my sewing table. But beggars can't be choosers, as my dm says:-)

my butt...
hahahaha! ;) |
I sit on high back office chair but it is really to big would like smaller chair due to space in sewing area.

Rolling office chairs - you'd be amazed how often you have to get up while quilting. The one I use the most (quilting, not apparel sewing) has an angled cushion from Bed and Bath Works. It helps a lot.

Office chair with my massage chair pad thingo attached, had to fiddle to get it adjusted right, currently there is a cookbook wedged between the pad and the seat back to get the lumbar support right.

I have an office chair with arms that I got a Walmart for around $50. It is height adjustable with a little lever under one side. It has five wheels under it so it's very sturdy.

My bum! Has lots of padding! Also use a dining room chair all I have!

Thanks Everyone, seem I might need to look at office chair which are adjustable.
