My DH has to wear fire retardent uniforms for his job. Therefore we have a major excess of wire hangers. I have been trying to think of ways to use these without throwing them in the trash. Well today we used several to hold landscape fabric in place in my small gadren. My DH cut them to make 2 curved hooks and pushed them in the ground to hold the fabric in place. We do not use mulch because it is used for vegies not flowers. We will see how this works. If anyone has any other ideas for use please let me know. Have a blessed day. Susan

Offer them on Freecycle in your community.

Or take them to Thrift stores - especially the ones run by the auxiliaries at hospitals, etc.

Can you recycle them at your local dry cleaners?

Check with your dry cleaner, some with take them back to reuse.

Do you crochet? If so take 2 that match and make them into 'designer' hangers. Great for those slippery dresses, shirts and sweaters. Here is a pic.

We've always used them for roasting weiners and marshmallows. Thy can also be used for stiffening the rim of such things as hats, visors, thread catchers, etc.

I save a few for whatever, but the rest gets tossed in the dumpster.

My DH grandmother used to crochet around them and they make a wonderful padded hanger. If you know any crocheters this is a wonderful use for them. She also sold a ton at craft fairs, etc.

I used some cut into short lengths to make a railing for a doll house, wood hand railing and bottom. Just a tiny spot with an ice pick or drill and they stay in place nicely. Also can make curved trellises for tiny roses and vines.

Doubled and bent, they make nice stiffeners for inside home made doll arms and legs. Victorian hats for dolls can use them in the brims.

Stiffen halos and wings for Christmas plays. Stiffens home made hat brims.

But the best are the crocheted ones, doubled and with tips upturned to capture and hold sleeveless garmets.
