After talking with the man @ the Janome, he really wanted $150.00 for it not the $100.00 PLUS, it had no power cord or pedal with it. (he couldn't find it) So there was no way for me to 'try it out'.
So this AM the man with the 301 called, we made arrangements to meet uo at a WM parkiing lot. His sister came with him, this was their grandmother's machine. This lady didn't sew and didn't want to learn. The case was as good of shape as it could be in but the machine.... :) see me smiling.??? There was no real way for me to 'try it out' in the parking lot, but it looks GREAT! So i asked if she would take......$50.00 for it. AND SHE DID!!!!! There are no attachments, BUT the power cord / foot controller is there and the original (no fraying of the cord or anything!) and the bobbin case and one bobbin was intact. No rust , the case didn't even smell that bad! I am SO EXCITED!!! Can you tell??? hUH HUH CAN YA???? :) I have included a picture of 'her' and now to find a name. What have you named yours? And WHY are we'naming' our machines???? LOL |
Good find !!!!!

Congrats, this is what my mom had and what I learned to sew on, sure wish she still had it. I have seen looking for one, someday.....

What a beautiful machine and a GREAT price. Love my 301. I don't really name my machines - they are just my girls. Enjoy her!
|
Congrats. You did good!
|
I think you should name her "Cocoa"
|
I have a black 301 (see my avatar!) and named her Ida after my maternal grandmother. My grandmother sewed all the clothing and household linens for a family of 10 on her treadle Singer. My mother sewed for us when we were small, and taught us to sew on an old Singer.
I am excited for you! Wait until you can spend some time sewing on her...you'll love it! |
She looks great!
How about calling her Mocha! |
Oh she's pretty!!!!!!!!!!! And she's a long-bed!!! I love my 301 and you will too! (and you paid less lol)
Congratulations!!!!!!!!!!! :D:D Color you happy!! |
My 1956 301 is AnnieRose. I don't know why. My great aunt Annie, maybe? Great price. I think the price on those is increasing by the day. Pop into the vintage site if you have any questions.
Funny, I've had my Elna since 1974, which makes her vintage, too, and never named her, but my 'new' vintage machines all tell me what they want to be called. |
