Hi guys, I'm new here and new to quilting and I'm looking for all the info that i can find!! I've bought some material from ebay and want to make a quilt for all of my family members and maybe do some quilts for sale if I do well at it...I'm looking for any advice and tips you can give about: Where to buy 'cheap' but good quality fabric
Should I buy by the yard or already cut squares If I buy by the yard, is it worth buying a die cutter and if so which one out there is the best for fabric... Also, so sites for easy free patterns, not really new to sewing, just quilting, not a pro but not a novice... |

Hello, and welcome from MI!
Rummage sales are my friend. I buy box loads of fabric from them. It's usually less than $1 per yard, and you can build quite a stash that way. I wash all fabrics imediately, and iron them. one reason: If it's a cotton blend it will melt under the iron and it goes into the fabric for clothing bin. I have a bin each for lights, mediums and darks, and one for pieces less than 1 yard. If you don't do this, it will quicky get outa hand, and you'll have a mess. |
Pretty Curious, Thanks thats great info! I'll have to go shopping!!
