Ok, so this is a little difficult. I have a brand new singer stylist 7258. Top loading bobber. The bobbin case started to rattle when I went to a higher speed, not much faster by the way. So after long extensive research I found a place that it shows the bobbin wasnt hitting the spring. So I adjusted that. Now the rattling is gone. Ok, great right? NOooo, now every time I start to do a straight stitch the darn thing bird nests underneath. I have cleaned out everything and thread the machine 50 times and now am about to throw it out the window...my needs are good, yes, changed them three times, my string is the same Ive been using, same weight, same type, cotton. My material is also the same, yes there is stabilizer and the right one. Anybody have any clues how to fix this?? I think Ive tried everything and where the machine is only a couple of months old I really dont want to bring to a repair guy already!!!

oh and yes my lever is up when I thread and all in the right direction.
I get the bird nest occasionally as well, and find that if I pull the bobbin thread up to the top with the first stitch like when machine quilting, it's a lot better........
Did you maybe make the adjustment a bit too far? Can you un bend it a bit?
I was afraid I did it too far so I put it back little by little until it started to rattle again and it just kept on bird nesting
I also pull the stitch to the top and then put a few stitches before I start and still bird nesting...I want to cry lol
Are you remembering to lower the presser foot?
Try a new/different bobbin too, if it is plastic, it may have a bur on it :D:D:D |
Change the needle?

Just wondering...did you research this machine before purchasing? The new Singers are not like what they used to be. It simply may be on its way out. I don't know what you paid for it, but you may want to consider the cost of repair vs. the cost of the machine.
Absolutely! take it to the repair guy--wherever you bought it. While it is still under warranty. 2 months ownership? and you are having these problems? I would be exasperated ...and all those other words not appropriate here.
