What is the difference between Brushed Cotton & Flannel?
|
Good question.... I'll wait for the answer.
|
I know the brushed cotton is more expensive than the flannel at our LQS but I'm not really sure just what the difference is between them.

I thought I knew the answer to this but now I'm not sure. I guess I will hang out here until someone comes along with an answer!

Maybe brushed cotton doesn't shrink from the size of a bath towel to the size of a washcloth when you launder?
(I kid, I kid...wish I knew the answer!) |
This is what yahoo said about Brushed cotton: Brushed cotton is cotton fabric that is brushed to remove all the excess lint and fibers from the fabric, leaving an ultra soft, smooth finish.
It's probably more expensive because it the quality is a lot higher than your usual cotton fabrics. But then they said almost the exact same thing about flannel with some information talking about it being made out of wool. I'm no help at all... I go now! |
From what I gather..it's all flannel..it depends on how's it made and whether it's brushed on 1 side or both sides !!

I found this list of Fabric definitions and Brushed cotton wasn't listed, http://phrontistery.info/fabric.html
so I googled it and found the same definition as what auntpiggylpn said...sounds like it would be very soft! |
Most of the fabrics that I have seen that say brushed cotton are "flannel like" only on one side, and woven on the other. You have a choice which side you want facing out. I don't know if they are all like this, though.
