I'm making a quilt for my soon-to-be-born grandbaby. (due next month) I have the top finished, just random blocks, various prints. There are a couple blocks that need some sort of appliqued motif, like a rocking horse, or giraff, something like that. I've been searching the net for a simple download (free) but can't find anything. Thought maybe tomorrow after work I could go look for a child's coloring book. (would do it now but it's soooo stink'n hot out!) Then I thought, "Hey, Ter, you have the greatest resource right at your fingertips, call on the board". So I am--HELP!--anyone have any suggestions?

Google- coloring book and whatever picture you are wanting  I do it all the time

There are a lot of coloring pages online for free and many of them are of the kind of things you would want to put on a baby quilt.

Have you googled "animal coloring pages"? I came up with quite a few hits in Images. You could also try Noah's Ark craft pages for animal cut-outs

Go to Fat Cat Patterns. All sorts of animals and all free.
Applique patterns included. |
actually if you google rocking horse, or kitty or baloons or whatever, then click on images lots will come up...

Thanks everyone, you're all swell. I really did look, obviously not well enough. I've only done applique once before, on a dish towel, so am a bit nervous about it. I'll let you know how it goes. :P

how about doing the animals with a raw edge? I have done some with fusible and just stitched close to the edge. It will fray a bit, but if you stay about 1/8th of an inch or so from the edge, that is all that it might fray. I'm terrible at a nice satin stitch!
