I am fairly new to quilting and would like to make a queen size quilt/bedspread out of all rose fabric, starting with dark red or burgandy and morphing to pale pink. any ideas or help would be much welcomed.

I think if you can read a pattern, you might be able to do a bargello quilt. Look for a bargello pattern.

Take a look at today's blog on color, value, and scale for some great tips on morphing the colors.

Are you planning to make the roses or just use some of the gorgeous fabrics out there with roses in them?

What type of pattern are you planning to use - there's another blog today about making the perfect 1/4" seam that has a great idea about bargello quilts and how to get around the matching up of seams. Personally, I wouldn't do that type of quilt as a beginner, but if you cut your materials into strips and make something like the zig zag quilt mentioned in the 1/4" blog, you could do multiple rows of the various blends of colors.

Good luck and let us know what you are doing!

My friend is working on a rose quilt. She bought the pattern with material, bright pink roses and center panel, think it was kind of expensive but its turning out wonderful. I am not sure the name of it but got it from local quilt shop, LadyBug, which I believe has a web site in Jacksonville, FL If you need more information please let me know.

The book Tradition with a Twist has a lot of great patterns that would work.

thanks for all the help---I am still working it out in my mind when I should be doing other things--I was told this is a sign of quilt obsession..
