This year I have a superabundance of huge blackberries - on thornless bushes. I'd love to pop them into my cereal or a fruit salad but those seeds! So, I looked at recipes from the woman who knows how to do it all - Martha Stewart. She's got tons of blackberry recipes, but nowhere do I see mention of getting rid of the seeds. Does she actually make any of these or taste them? Or do the seeds magically disappear when cooked? (I suspect not.)

So what do you do with your blackberries?

Make cobblers or jam.

You can make seedless jelly by cooking the fruit first, put it through a strainer or jelly bag so you end up with just the juice, then add your other ingredients and finish off the recipe.

Yummy, but I find this results in a lot of waste of the pulp itself and I'd rather put up with the seeds. I used to make the seedless one for my DH though.

Mom would juice them, and then make jam, syrup or toppings out of them.
The juicer removes the seeds

You can also freeze the berries whole. Place the clean and dried berries on cookie sheets, single layer, not touching, in the freezer. When they are frozen, put them into freezer bags :D:D:D

Blackberry jelly or syrup - add sugar - cook down - strain through several layers of cheesecloth to catch the seeds

I vaguely remember my Mom doing that - I wasn't aware enough at the time to actually learn how to do it myself.

freeze them for winter use juice them it will help loose those seeds and then you have blackberry juice for jelly or even make syrup for pancakes

Oh hot Blackberry cobbler with vanilla ice cream, oh so wonderful! Reminds me of my Aunt Bea, she made the best, Mother made the best peach cobbler, summer was always a tastier part of the year.

I've never been bothered by the seeds. I figure I need all the extra fiber I can get. Sometimes I make a blackberry lime coulis (blackberries cooked down in sugar, strained through cheesecloth) to drizzle over ice cream or cake.

Of course the favorite is just eaten out of hand. I think most people don't mind the seeds. You're a lucky lady!
