Can anyone recommend a good rotary blade sharpener? I'm in the market for one and have seen the ones by TrueCut but have never heard of anyone using one. I'd appreciate your feedback. Thanks bunches!

Do a "search" using the menu option above for rotary blade sharpeners! I believe the consensus is very much in favor of saving your money on one and buying the carpet cutter blades from Harbor Freight at $1.99 for a pk of 2. You can also "search" for them. Good luck!

not worth the money. tried a couple of them. just buy new blades from harbor frieght

I've had 2 sharpeners, the one from TrueCut, and another one. I have better luck with just buying new blades. And I love Harbor Freight blades! :thumbup:

I just bought this one, I can't wait. I use different size blades and this works on all. If you give me a few days for it to arrive, I will gladly let you know if it was worth the money. |
They don't sharpen in the same way as an old fashioned oil stone. They straighten the burrs the same was as a honing rod does the carving knife.

Anyone tried the electric TrueSharp Power Sharpener yet? My DH thinks that it sounds like it would work because it has the stones and two sizes. He was reading my Nancy's Notions catalog. LOL He is always on look out for new things as he says he never knows what to buy me. LOL
Let us know if you have tried it as he is bent on buying it for me but if it is like the others I have tried I don't want to waste that much money. Thanks for any imput. |
I have bought this sharpener...just got it so I haven't really had a chance to test it out over time..I did put in an old blade..the 60mm...(I have been saving my old blades in case I bought one)...and I tested it out..blade seems to be sharper but I did not cut anything with it...
I will post more later... how much are these sharpeners in the US..they sure are exp. here... |

Let me know how the blade holds up cutting after you have sharpened it, will let my DH know if he can buy me one or not. I have one of the first ones that came out years ago with the sand paper in it and the two rounds of plastic you put the blade in that thing was worthless, sandpaper wore out almost on the first blade. It sharpened the blade a little but not enough to finish the cutting job you were doing. |
