Hi, just wondering if any of you have used the perfect corner ruler and how you like it. I saw a youtube video on it and it looks like it would be more accurate than other methods. Thanks

I just watched the video and I think I'll pass because they work on the bias.

Too many steps for a rather simple technique.

The accuracy gained from the Perfect Corner Ruler method far outweighs any problems arising from the fill-in triangle’s bias edge. The “fill-in” triangle is already over-sized so getting it to fit does not require stretching it. The only issue we’ve had is that it “wants to move out of place” so one should pin the fabrics, as the video warns. Also, as the triangle is placed below the “base fabric” [block], one does not have the opportunity of stretching it. Although I might be “biased” because my wife created it, we have seen marked improvements in piecing, received many thanks, and not a single complaint from anyone who has tried it.

We saw this at a shop hop today. I was going to buy one but my kids were rushing me and I totally forgot. I'm probably going to get one eventually. I don't save my cut off corners so this would save me a lot of fabric. I just don't want to pay a bunch of shipping so I'll have to wait until the next hop since I can't go back tomorrow (or see if the lqs stocks it).

Well, I have to say that I'm having problems with it. I have watched the video several times but what keeps happening with me is that the bottom corners (even thought I have pinned them) tend to move up so I'm left with opposite corners from the squares not measuring enough. For example on my 2.5 by 4.5 block, the measurement ends up at 4.5 in the middle but 4.25 at each end. I can't figure out why this is happening. I will say on the positive side that it does use less fabric and it's a simple process even though it initially looks like many steps. I'm getting perfect corners where I once did not only to find that those bottom corners are now off. If anyone has had this happen and knows how to fix it, please let me know.

Maybe your tension is too tight for your stitch length.
Just a guess. Try sewing one of paper and see if you can
find the problem. If the paper block measures okay then
it's how you are sewing the fabric.


I like specialty rulers and this one will save fabric.
I tend to make my triangles too big so I can trim to size
and I make them too big.
