Crap, yesterday I found out why my wrists are hurting. I have De Quervain's Tenosynovitis or inflammation of the 2 tendons that operate your thumb. I currently have a hard plastic splint on my right thumb/wrist and half way up my arm. I'm to not use my thumb for anything or pick up anything heavy - even my purse! Tomorrow, I see if I get one on the other hand. No sewing for 6 weeks! What will I do?

Oh my that is a long time and how do you not use your thumbs it's an everyday process. I guess curl up with a good book or two maybe?

That's awful! I would be cheating!

Get magazines and books out to find your next project...
I have felt your pain.....

Read up on quilting techniques, explore new patterns in magazines.

I'm sorry your going to be laid up for so long.

(((HUGS))) I hope after 6 weeks you find the relief needed to be able to start sewing again :D:D:D

I hate that for you. My thumbs are been acheing also. Right in the joint. My dr. said if they keep it up, I would have to go to another dr. and get shots in them. I'm suppose to wear those sleeve things that go on your hand and up your arm. I had been wearing them. But haven't been wearing them. It's hard to craft with them on. Hopefully your thumbs will be better by them getting a rest for six weeks.

It could be worse! I broke my wrist and when they casted I insisted they leave my thumb and fingers free so I could sew. Well, when the cast came off, I had severed the tendon in my thumb from use and then had to have surgery on my thumb and another cast so it wasn't worth it in the end. Patience, go to your library and look at books for a nice outing, hide your sewing stuff so you don't see it. Hope it passes quickly.
