I was wondering if anyone had pillow case instructions. I am going to a family get together and we have to bring an inexpensive gift. I have already bought the fabric (University of Kentucky material) I'm from Kentucky!

Here are instructions for a very simple "basic" pillowcase:

Cutting: Cut fabric 38" x 42" for a standard pillow -- for pillows other than standard size, cut this piece 42" by the length of the pillow plus 12"

Construction: All seams are 1/2" unless otherwise specified

1. Press under 1/4" hem on one 42" side -- can use Wonder Tape to get an exact 1/4".
2. Press under a 6" hem allowance for band. Fold the pillowcase in half lengthwise and choose your seam finish: French seam, 1/2" machine stitched with raw edges finished or 4 thread serger.
3. Once you have stitched the side and bottom of the folded fabric, your pillowcase is complete.

I love this method and this tute has really good pictures!! I made a couple like that in a class -- wow, I sure was proud of myself when I got that thing turned right side and it looked like it should!!! But instead of doing the french seam -- if you have a serger, just serge them babies right up and you're DONE.

I just kinda tweeked the directions a bit. On the first seam going down the side, I stitched at 1/4 inch. Then, when it's turned inside out to do the last seam, I did that one at 1/2 inch. Worked much better for me because if I didn't, I had threads/fabric showing
Plus, I think doing it this way, makes it look better. A serger is nice, but I think the seams look a bit more finished the way this is.

Yup, they sure do! Had to do the tweeking after making the first one.
