I make a queen size quilt for my grandchildren as they get married. The latest is marrying a lovely girl whom I do not know very well. In the past I have made colorwash triple irish chain but this young woman is not the "frilly" type at all. I would like to make a very classic quilt in her choice of colors which is navy blue and cream. Can anyone help me with a pattern choice that would be very dynamic in those colors. I have considered a variation of hunter's star but nothing quite feels right. I would appreciate the wisdom of this board.

My very favorite quilt pattern is the Log Cabin. It's an oldie, I know, but this pattern in shades of blue and cream sound yummy to me. I might have to make one in your colors for me!!!

Two color quilts are so traditional. You could go Hawaiian, pieced, rose of Sharon. Try searching two color quilts in flickr for inspiration or find pictures of the recent show in NYC (at the Armory I believe) that was red&white quilts. I'm sure you will find just the right pattern.

I have this pattern - in the photo the maker used purple and white with a tiny bit of yellow. Why not substitue navy and cream, and keep the yellow?

Recently I saw a dresden plate made with blues and whites. It could just as easily be in navies and creams. it was outstanding and they go really fast.
