I bought a wholecloth quilt online and when I got it the fabric was so stiff I can't hardly get a needle through it--has anyone else had this problem and if so what did you do to help the situation?

Going to watch this one. I was going to buy one to start soon and this worries me.

I have a finished queen sized whole cloth quilt, it's a beauty, but it took me 6 yrs to get quilted. I worked on it and put it away several times because I was tired of the struggle to push the needle through it. It seemed to get easier as time went on, maybe because it had been handled a lot and the fabric softened up. Wish I could give you some really good help. Good luck.

Have done 4 of these quilts so far and havent had a problem with any of them, not sure what the problem is.

It is most likely 100% cotton indeed. The problem is that the add a lot of sizing in order to guarantee that the markings will come off when you wash it (the marks don't penetrate the fibers). It becomes more flexible and easier to work with as you play with it. The more you re-hoop, fold it and unfold it, the easier it is to work with it. Also, if you store for a long time before touching it is a lot easier to handle.
