How can I find out which DSM has the largest throat? Mine is only 7 inches & I so want to try FMQ my quilts. Don't know where to start looking.

it should say on the manufacturers websites

juki, janome, and bernina all have large throat DSM (over 9 inches)

My Viking Sapphire has 10"
My Janome Magnolia has 7".

Bernina 820 quilters edition is just a little under 12"

Janome Horizon has a little more than 11". Maybe it's only 11", I can't remember exactly which.

I have been researching this too. The bigger the space the bigger the price....both the Janome Horizon and BAbylock Symphony are about $2500 if you can get a deal. Not sure about Viking. And I forget, but I think the Babylock didn't have that big of an area. But it was nice.

The Babylock Ellisimo has a 10" throat.

Bailey's has 13, 15, and 17

Not only does the Ellisimo have a 10" throat but it is also 5" from the bed to the top which gives 50 sq. inches. Height is also important.

Depending on your budget, the Janome 6500P has 9" throat and I could quilt full size quilts with no problem. I have never made a quilt larger than that so can't testify about a queen or king but would bet it is doable.
