Help! I made my son the irish chain quilt in a day pattern for his bed and my daughter wanted one too. I bought the fabric and I just can't bring myself to make the same quilt again LOL. Anyone have any ideas for a quilt for her bed that she might like? I have 3 colors to use... Oh and she's going to be 7 years old in November... does this count as a tween?

A rail fence, DP9 or 9 patch. Lots of quick and easy patterns to choose from. Maybe DD could help pick out the one she likes:)

i would hope that a 7yo is still a little girl :-)

Lover's knot is another quilt in a day pattern that works up pretty easy -- disappearing 9 patch and log cabins are fun to play with the settings, she could help decide what she liked best...

Have her sit with you and pick a pattern and then cut and sew it with you. She will love it much better that way.

I hope she is still a little girl too. Because mine is 8 and I can't call her a tween yet!

My friend's DGD informed her mom when she was 9 that she was a pre-teen! She's now 11 and looks 14. Sorta scary actually.

Nope, a soon to be 7 year old is a little girl, playing with her American girl dolls, etc. At least in my book, they grow up much to fast. My 12 year old granddaughter is a tween. Her 9 year old sister is not! JMHO! As to the quilt, a D9P is quick easy and fun to make. How about some hearts, peacesigns, etc. Groovy fabric to help her feel 'big', but also appropriate for a 7-year-old. |
