Email directly to singer. they were extremely helpful when I was looking for more info than their site offered. Singer Talk To Us [[email protected]]. they will not only tell you when and where it was made but also the model number and places where you can get reasonable parts if needed.

OH, MY...dear lady, you got a steal of a deal!!! Way to shop!

ckcowl 09-12-2011 08:57 AM

just visit the singer site- you can enter the serial#, model# and find out exactly when (it was born and where) you can also down load a free manual for it.
you did not get taken=
and consignment shops seldom (dicker) the prices are set by the person who it belongs to- and they add their consignment fee on top of what they want for their item- it is not something the person running the shop has the right to lower- since it 's not theirs-
$60 is not a bad price

Awesome Thank You for all the information. The lady at the Consignment shop called the owner but I had a feeling it was worth the 60.00. And I know these older machines are solid unlike the plastic they charge outrageous prices for.

Unless you can't get it to work, you definitely didn't get taken. Just a few years ago I could pick up old black singers for $10-$20 at garage sales. For the last two years I haven't been able to find even one old Singer sewing machine. And I ask at every sale I go to. Guess people in my area figured out what great machines they are.
So congrats on your great new machine you bought at a great price!

It looks like my Singer 15-91. good machine. put it in a cabinet that I got from my dad that had my other one on top.

I'd say you stole it. Good shopping.
