So after today I was wondering what you have used your Quilting stuff for?

Project 1. Hemming a pair of curtains for our laundry room. I had old set that was in storage but they were to long. I really diden't want to go through the trouble of cutting and re-hemming them properly. Our laundry/mechanical room is unfinished and I just wanted something to cover the window. Didn't need fancy. So I needed like a 10 in hem. Out comes my trusty quilting ruler and 5 min later I have hemmed curtains.

Project 2. Making a storage cubby for my closet. I went to measure out the pieces I needed and realized I had no idea where my hubby had the wood square. I figured rather than wasting time looking considering I wasen't sure we even had one. LOL I figured that if I could presicely measure yards of fabric I could use my quilting ruler on a piece of wood. It worked great!

SOOO what non-quilting project have you reached for your quilting supplies to do?

We used the quilting rulers last week end to cut and sew some heating pads for our grandsons.

Use metal thimble to rap DH on the head.

I used a quilting ruler to mark ceramic tiles when laying them diagonally on the floor. Worked great for keeping them square.

Well, to turn the question around -- when I want to make sure the corners on a top are really square -- I use my carpenters 30" metal square

* Rotary blade for cutting foam core, cardboard, paper, coraplast, etc.

* adhesive sprays for holding paper in place -- scrap booking, labelling things, etc.
