My husband collects the old paper apple labels that were on the wooden apple boxes many years ago. I want to make him a quilt with 24 of his favorite labels on it. They are all slightly over 8 1/2"x11" so I scaned them and reduced them to 8 1/2"x11" and put them on a disc. I want to Inkjet print them on a 11"x17" sheet of Sew-On Printed Treasures by Dritz. Then cut that sheet down leaving a 1/4" around my 8 1/2"x11" scan for my seam. My problem is that our printer is only a 8 1/2"x11" and I can't find any one with a larger one. All the printing shops in the Seattle I have contacted only have Laser Printers that will handle a 11"x 17" sheet. Anyone know of a printing shop that can do this or have a better suggestion to acumblish this project?

Hi and welcome to the board from Southern California! What a great idea for a quilt! I would really like to see it after it is pieced! Afraid I don't have a clue about printing, but CostCo does all kinds of printing-if you have a CostCo near you, you might check with them.

Seattle's a big place. If you have a yellow pages, look under "printing" and see what you can find. There might be a place that prints logos on tee shirts and other things that might have the equipment to put your logo on another kind of material. Or perhaps there's some kind of printing place I can't think of. Or Google "printing on (put in the dimensions) fabric" and see what you come up with. I don't want to tell you to decrease the size of your print. Is there an art school near you? A university? Do they have an art department? That could be worth a call. They may have ideas, even if they don't have a solution, and they may even have a solution. There is an answer out there. It just may take some digging to find it!
Please do let us know how this turns out. I'd love to know the answer, and I'm sure others on the Board would as well. Warmest Regards, |
