Hi, my name is Loretta, I am from Apple Valley, MN. about 1 mile from the Minnesota Zoo. I originally grew up in Northern Minnesota on a small farm the youngest in a family of 13. I have been quilting for almost 30 years and learned the majority of my quilting from my ex-grandmother-in-law. She taught me all of the old-time techniques of applique, hand-piecing, etc. My favorite quilting now would have to be machine applique, with strip piecing a close second! I just recently was approved by Social Security to receive Disability monthly, because I suffer from Chiari Malformation I/Syringomyelia and had major back surgery last year on June 28, 2010 and emergency brain surgery on September 22, 2010. :-( I am hoping to meet new friends on this board since I am unable to drive so, I am always begging my husband, my 26 year old daughter and my 21 year old son to give me rides to different places! Although that is difficult because my husband works, my daughter and her husband live 10 miles away and they both work and my son is 2 hours away at college! At least I give it a shot! I'm looking forward to meeting and chatting with all of you. I am posting pictures of 2 of my favorite quilts and one of my family. :roll:
