Hello, my name is Kay Durham. I am a quilter from Bastrop TX. Texasgranny of Paige TX suggested I post here with a plea for help. We have had a devastating wildfire destroying 40,000 acres of beautiful pine forest community and 1500 homes of which our local quilt shop owner and 10 other quilters homes were destroyed. Please send Texasgranny some loving.
However, the first responders were the Heart of the Pines all volunteer firedepartment of which 11 firemen have lost their homes. I am looking for anyone who would be willing to donate a Quilts of Valor for these firemen. Hopefully we can reach our goal of 11 quilts. Any help would be appreciated and quilts can be sent to: Lost Pines Quilt Shop 709 Chestnut St. Bastrop TX 78602. Linda Hudson/proprietor. www.lostpinesquiltshop.com or [email protected] Thank you so much for any help! Kay Durham |

Re: TX fire qults. In my fatigue my intent was to ask for quilts "similar to the Quilts of Valor recommendations" to make it easier for anyone interested in helping us(although wraparound binding is fine) Quilts of Valor is a fantastic trademarked organization. The basic requirements can be seen here. http://www.qovf.org/content/basic-qov-requirements.html

I have 4 quilts, childrens, that I am making to bring your way. I am sewing the binding right now. I will contact you later in the week to give them to you. They are all twin size and remember that I am still new at binding.

I am sure your binding is filled with love and we will take it anyway it comes! Your quilts are needed badly and I know will be appreciated for a long time. Thank you very much. K
