A friend gave me this fabric. I need some ideas on what to do with it. I have thought about one block wonder. I only have a yard. Looking for any other suggestions

If you have 4 repeats, you can do a 4 Patch Posy. It won't be too big. I did one with a meter of fabric (40 in.)and I'm putting plain blocks between my 4PP blocks for a couch size.

What about a simple nine patch like this, it would show case the fabric and if you just use that for the center you could get quite a few blocks out of a yard. And if the fabric is not your cup of tea I am sure there is a young soldier out there that would enjoy receiving one with this fabric... :)
Personally I prefer the one with the cowboys...lol |
fold it up and put it away?
It's kind of cute - just not something I would buy |
I recently got a book on quilts using border patterns. You could use a nice big chunk of that fabric as a center piece and then sew borders and add borders around it using other
"cowboy/horse" fabrics and basic country-looking fabrics. It's quite bright, but some little cowgirl might just fall in love with it. |

You could fussy cut the fabric and pick a pattern for focus fabrics. Another thought .... use it for a backing in one solid chunk, and frame it up with fabrics leftover from the front. The front could be made in a nice western theme .... or as someone suggested for a soldier, lots of white stars with red and blue sashing to keep to your flag colours! And yet another .... a baby blanket ... use it as the centre and border it up accordingly! |
I'd show case the fabric as a center panel and put blocks and borders around them. Just my thoughts. ;-)
