If you can come down towards Charlotte, in the town of Gastonia, just off I-85 is MaryJo's. The Queen Mother of all Fabric Stores. They actually organize bus trips to this place. If MaryJo's doesn't have it, it probably can't be found!
Hide your credit cards because you will come out broke!! |
I agree, you've got to go to Mary Jo's if you can. It is a bit overwhelming the first time you go-but fun! It is west of Charlotte.

Mary Jo's - the greatest place ever! Be prepared to be overwhelmed. Went with some friends and the first day, we didn't buy a thing! Just couldn't take it all in. Went back the next day and overcame that problem! Spent $500! If you are worried about overcharging, take cash (but you'll be sorry you did!)
Also if you find something you like, buy as much as you can because between one day to the next, they sold an entire bolt that I had decided to buy more of! |
Do they have a website?
|
Mary Jo's does have a website, but it is not that great. If you want a particular fabric, they recommend you call before driving to shop. The shop, however, is overwhelming. I lived in Charlotte for a while and went often. If you do machine embroidery, Long Creek is a thread supply shop in Gastonia. I don't shop there anymore, but lots of people love the shop. I have found another resource for thread. Have fun.

There is also a small shop called Sew Much Fun not far from Mary Jo's
