Hi Again:
I want a Featherweight 221 for Christmas. I'm looking at a machine but the owner has lost the manual and doesn't know what model it is. Can you tell me some ways to differentiate a Featherweight from a Singer 66 by looking at the machine? Are the serial numbers of any help? They seem to only tell what year the machine was manufactured-1955. I've also heard the Singer 66 is good for the actual quilting. Thanks again for all your help. |

Lots of photos here on this link....hope it helps:) |
A 221 is a really small sewing machine that comes in a black or green case usually. A 66 is very large, no comparison to the 221. You can usually find manuals or copies of them online.

The 221 will only weigh about 12 pounds or so. The most distinctive feature is a lift-up bed to the left of the needle (also on a 301) and will be a short shank machine. There is a lot of information out there about them. Good luck.

After looking at it more I'm almost sure that its actually a Singer 99. Does anyone have any thoughts on how this machine would work for quilting & it's worth? Thanks Again.
